News Article: Important Security Update

Microgaming has removed support for the Download Helper ActiveX Control version 7.2.0.19 which is used to facilitate the download of Casino and Poker installers and which has been found to contain a security vulnerability. No further version of the Download Helper ActiveX Control will be distributed.

Microgaming is working with Microsoft to issue a killbit in a Cumulative Security Update of ActiveX Killbits ("Security Update") that, after installation, will disable the Download Helper ActiveX Control on affected machines.

Microgaming recommends that this Security Update be installed on any system on which Microgaming Casino and/or Poker software has been installed and that systems are patched at all times to remove any potential vulnerability to their systems. The security vulnerability was originally discovered and reported to Microgaming by Will Dormann at the US-CERT. You can find further information regarding the security vulnerability at http://www.kb.cert.org/vuls/id/184473.

At this time there are no known instances of abuse of the security vulnerability.
